The Pant Problemby Angie

During dinner Friday night (in Truckee), I managed to get pizza sauce on my jeans (yes, I’m a klutz).  Well, Jim and I had both planned to just wear the same pants both Friday and Saturday, so I didn’t have an extra pair – but there was a washing machine in the condo, so I changed into my PJs and threw my pants in the washer.  At the last minute, Jim decided to toss his pants in, too.  An hour later, I moved the wash along, then the dryer finished just before we went to bed.  I decided to check that they were dry before going to sleep.  I opened the dryer… and they were cold and wet.  Nervously, I started the cycle over, turning the options to “high” and “more dry.”  I also tossed in a clean, dry towel.

I woke up during the night and checked again.  Still wet.  I hung up the towel, tossed in two dry ones, and started it once more, without much hope.  Next morning – sure enough – cold and damp.  We were in trouble.  Jim thought we should wear damp jeans on the five-hour train ride home.  That was not appealing to me, but the idea of going in our pajama bottoms wasn’t much better.  Luckily, Jon was there and had an idea:  we could borrow his pants!  You see, Jon met us in Truckee as a break in his 12-hour drive home from Utah, bringing the last of his belongings from there to his new apartment in Emeryville.  That being the case, he happened to have four or five pairs of pants with him.  Amazingly, Jim and I both found a pair that basically fit, so we spent the rest of the day wearing Jon’s pants.

Recovering from surgeryby Angie

Thank you, everybody, for your prayers and well-wishes for us since my surgery.  I am doing very well and hope to be back to normal in a couple more weeks.  I have been very well taken care of:  My wonderful, adorable, thoughtful husband has been at my beck and call as much as possible since I got home from the hospital.  He and Jon spent a large portion of their Memorial weekend entertaining me (playing “Secret of Mana”My \ with me for hours on end).  JaquieMy mother-in-law, Kathy, visited for a week to keep our house running smoothly.  I received phone calls and visits from wonderful friends in my ward and from family members all over the country (thanks, Audrey!).  I even had my own pet therapist on hand: Jaquie wisely stayed off my lap, but spent long hours curled up next to me on the couch or my bed.

Getting around the house is still a little difficult because of the incision (for those ladies who have had a C-section, you probably know what I mean), and I can’t carry very much or drive yet, but I’m certainly improving.  My doctor called when she received the lab results on the cysts they removed to report that everything was benign – hooray!!  My post-op appointment is next Tuesday, so if there is anything else interesting to relate, I’ll keep the blog posted.

Daylight Savingsby Angie

I have to preface this charming story by explaining that, since our choir director, Josh Senecal, will be out of town over Easter, I offered to fill in and direct the Easter number. He hasn’t left town yet, so rehearsals are still at his home, and we meet at 9:30 am.

I’m sure you can see where this is leading, but I’ll tell my little story anyway: Last night we were up until well past midnight because of the monumental artistic achievement being culminated in our kitchen (I’ll let Jim elaborate on that later). At 8:30 this morning, my alarm started blaring and I sleepily turned it off and sat down on the bed to pet Jaquie. Ten minutes after that, I shuffled into the bathroom and was about to put toothpaste on my toothbrush when the phone rang. It was Josh, calling to say, “Hey, are you coming to choir today?” I said, “Sure, of course!” To which, he responded, “Well, we’re waiting to get started…” As the full import of what he was saying dawned on me, I felt mortified! I’m sure you can imagine the frenetic activity that followed this phone call.

So, yes, we were twenty minutes late to choir because I had no idea that today was daylight savings. Thank goodness for choir, though, because otherwise we probably would have been an hour late to church!

I wanted to let everyone know that (my brother) Jon got the internship with Pixar! He’ll be coming out here to the bay area in January and staying until June. Pixar only takes the best of the best, so, way-to-go, Jon! Angie and I are both really excited and proud of you.

Say congrats to Jon yourself by leaving a comment!
