Angie’s New New Toyby Jim

Angie and I don’t normally make Valentine’s Day a big gift-giving holiday, but this year I wanted to do something special for her. I know that she really wanted a digital audio player for Christmas, but I had already decided on what to get her when she expressed her desire for the player. The nearest holiday after Christmas that I could get her something was, of course, Valentine’s. I decided months ago I would get Angie and iPod Nano. They aren’t terribly expensive, they are small, very cool, and all-around good music players.
So, a few weeks ago I bought it (thanks to Jon for getting me the discount!) and, understandably, I was quite surprised when Angie told me she was getting a shuffle. Jason called to ask Angie what I wanted for my birthday and he asked about the shuffle. Angie told him she didn’t think I would care for it and he offered it to her–which she graciously accepted. I didn’t know what to do, but in the end, everything worked out just fine.
I had thought about giving it to her early (because of the shuffle incident), but I decided to just stick with it. This morning I kept waking up and looking at the clock; 3:00 AM–no, too early. 4:30 AM–no, still too early. I even dreamed about giving her the iPod and something was horribly wrong with it. 5:30… 6:00… 6:45–close enough. I woke Angie up and gave her my present. She took a few minutes to wake up, but was thoroughly surprised when she realized what was going on. Oh, and I had an engraving put on the back: “ily”.
Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart. Thank you for all you do for me–you take such good care of me. I love you dearly.
