So, I’m an electrical engineer by degree, software programmer by day, and circuit designer by weekend. Jon has been spending weekends over at our place to work on his upcoming sculptures–which are going to be “high-tech”. We had so much fun making Angie’s Christmas present that we decided to keep it up (and go a little more complicated).

Breadboard (Small)

Well, I got the complicated part right. It really isn’t as bad as it looks. Anyway, I wired this up as our prototype to test the circuit before I start soldering anything. You can click on the image to get a closer view. Everything (surprisingly) worked on the first try, but I had to tweak some resistor values to get the LED brightness we wanted, and I still have to write the software for the microcontroller… I won’t bore you with the details.

I’ll post again after we’ve done some more work.
