Well, all you anxious people can now rest a little more easily. My wishlist website now has a new feature. I added a “Mark List Ready” button to your personal wishlist that makes it so people can start reserving items for you. This means that once you’ve marked your list as ready, you may no longer delete items, so don’t do it until you’re ready. Check it out for yourself at http://wishlist.ath.cx/

Just to clarify: Once you mark it as “Ready,” that doesn’t mean that your list is totally final – you can always edit any of your items and also add more. It just means that you will no longer be able to delete anything or change any item’s title, so it is safe for others to begin reserving your wishes!

I think the ready feature is much better than arbitrarily setting a day for everyone’s lists to no longer accept deletions. Hey jim- what’s the procedure for adding new families\groups to the wishlist? Is it open to anyone or do you specifically have to set up a new family as the webmaster?

Currently, I have to manually add new groups. Features for the next version (probably sometime next year) will include creating new groups without my intervention. Anyone can currently sign up, but they have to join a group to make it useful. Let me know the group you want to add and tell people to sign up and request membership in the group and I’ll take care of it.
