We just stopped by our new place and took a video so everyone can see it. Sorry for the lame cinematography, folks. I was filming with my cellphone and we only had one take 😉

The Money is GONE!by Jim

Well, I just finished wiring the most money I’ve ever spent in my life.  We signed papers for our new home last Friday and today I called up my bank and had the money wired.  I was a little surprised at how quickly it was gone.  I had spent years saving it up and within seconds of hanging up the phone, I hit refresh on my browser and it was gone from my account.  Scary.

Last night, Angie and I watched some DIY videos on laying laminate flooring and decided we ought to try doing it ourselves.  We went down to the hardward store to look at what they’ve got.  It was a fairly successful trip.  We’ll keep you posted as we do the renovations in our new home (and, of course, include lots of pictures).

We found out yesterday that the short-sale offer we signed back in January was approved by the bank! We’re going to sign papers this afternoon to get things rolling (inspections, appraisals, etc.). I can’t believe how much you have to sign to buy a house.

Here is a picture I took just a minute ago of the property:

President Monson just announced that a new temple will be built in the Greater Kansas City Area – which is in my beloved Missouri, Independence Mission boundaries!!!  I am so excited!  Oh, it makes me so happy!

My family’s good friends, Jeff and Karen Acerson, are currently serving as the Mission President & Wife in Rome, Italy, so I’m sure they are thrilled about the annoucement of the temple in Rome, too!

Adoption Orientation Meetingby Angie

We drove up to Concord this morning to attend our first adoption orientation meeting! They gave us an overview of the whole process and we had the chance to meet a couple who have adopted twice through LDS Family Services, as well as amazing young woman who placed her daughter for adoption earlier this year. Hearing their stories was pretty powerful. The birth mother shared some of her journal entries from various points in the placement process: she is an amazing writer and expressed herself beautifully.

The initial application process generally takes a few months; I have several medical appointments scheduled between now and the end of July, so it will take us at least until the end of summer.  Actual placement can take anywhere from months to years. In the mean-time, there are lots of forms and questionnaires to fill out, background checks and home studies to complete, and even first aid and CPR courses to take. What an experience this is going to be!

I wanted to let everyone know that (my brother) Jon got the internship with Pixar! He’ll be coming out here to the bay area in January and staying until June. Pixar only takes the best of the best, so, way-to-go, Jon! Angie and I are both really excited and proud of you.

Say congrats to Jon yourself by leaving a comment!
