About half past midnight, our beloved wife and mother, Kathy Ann Packard Hoffman, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family. Her breathing slowed and weakened for a few minutes giving us enough time to gather the family and then she reached the end of her journey. She battled Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease for more than six months, and she fought valiantly until the end. She led an exemplary life and blessed all those who were fortunate enough to know her. The impact she had on countless lives can never be measured. You are an inspiration and a strength to all of us, Mom. We love you.

I will always remember how excited your Mom was to help decipher the “invites” and “answers” to Prom and other formal dances. It is a joy to have known her.

Rebecca and family,
I did not know your mother, but from all I have learned of her from you, it is clearly my loss. What a fine lady she must have been to have produced a legacy of fine living, and fine people as her children and grandchildren. But the best part is that you are only separated for a while. The blessings of temple covenants are real: it is hard to imagine the love we have for each other not continuing forever. May you all be warmed by the promise of those blessings at this time.

So sorry for your loss, our prayers are with you. I’d only met Kathy a couple of times, but seemed like an amazing women. Bernie made sure I always read her Christmas letters as they were so interesting and I truly looked forward to them. May she be at peace and comfort now. God bless your family. May God speed be upon Kathy on her journey to eternal peace and may he bless you all, her family, in your journey to find peace and acceptance of your loss. It is never easy to loose those we love and Kathy will forever be remembered as one of those rare individuals who could love and bring smiles to everyone.
Blessed be,
Cathy (Johnson) Harris
